Crystal Fire
Spears
Value: 5,000 GS
Looks: These appear as spears that have a polished dark wood
(often teak or mahogany) base about 3 ft long and then what appears
to be another 3 ft of solid crystal. If closely examined the crystal
fits into the wooden area and is actually and additional foot long.
Built into the spear is a stable compound similar to C-4. When these
are found there are normally 1d6+4 extra crystal spears with the
loaded spear.
Effects: These "spears" are actually a missile projectile weapon. When a small nub at the tip of the spear is pushed the crystal spear portion is fired. For MA purposes treat this weapon as a +15 MA Heavy Cross bow (+3 in d20 campaigns.) When fired and the spear hits an object, it will do an initial 1d12+4. One CF count later it will explode doing another 3d6 in explosive damage and 4d6 in fragmentation damage. The crystal portion is not completely fragile and necessary it can be used as a long spear. This is one very dangerous item. History: These weapons were created by an alien race who came down to establish a colony on Arduin over 50,000 years ago. Not wanting to interfere with the local cultural and technology balance they created these weapons which were a perfect melding of their star-age technology while still appearing to be medieval level weaponry. This name of this race along with everything else about them was lost in the same interstellar war that resulted in the destruction of the 5th Continent. |
