Some stuff I've heard players repeat over the years as *wisdom* for playing my games. This list was emailed to me by a player from california from a few years ago.
1. Never go off alone (and not expect something to happen)
2. If you start referring to other players as "meat" expect them to begin referring to you in the past tense...
3. Don't drop a sunburst spell on top of someone and not expect one or more additional explosions
4. If you are opposed by a legion of zombies, a hunting brace of dragons, demons from the 21 hells or a single dwarf in Monty's game, you are screwed.
5. Nexuses kill. Don't play with them, don't make them and by god, don't let them play bumper cars!
6. Write down everything. Expect that the random fact he casually mentioned 20 games ago to be referenced in your game.
7. If you do something brilliant, grand or memorable, you'll find it in game sometime later down the line.
8. Carrying a lot of grenades, potions, or energy cells or magik items can be a lethal combination. The bigger the pile, the bigger the boom.
9. If you turn everyone inside out and eat them (deodanths, pay attention!) don't expect to have a lot of willing allies.
10. At least half of what he mentions will have zero meaning at the moment but have some meaning in the future; some of it will be lies, some of it truth and all of it will bite you in the rear if you don't write it down.
11. Never use the front door. Everyone builds a back door- you just have got to find it.
12. Be careful what you ask for-you'll get it the way you want it and it will be so much more than you can handle.
13. If its a Dwarf, it has an even 75% of surviving anything, not matter what you throw at it.
14. Always distrust elves with bad hair and the stench of ozone
15. You will have a character go insane if you play them long enough
16. You will be challenged at some point turn right instead of left
17. Don't expect a bad buy speech
18. Teleporting in Arduin = good chance of dying.
19. Fole playing always works to your advantage no matter how grim the situation.
20. Letting your character die is sometimes the only option that makes sense - and is usually comes full circle in your favor.
